Freshmeat page:

The MusicKit and SndKit are continuations of the music, MIDI and sound representation, synthesis and performance Objective-C frameworks that originated at NeXT in 1989. They have since been modernized and ported to the OpenStep specification and are now running on OpenStep, MacOS X, MacOS X Server, Windows (using WebObjects) and Linux (using GnuStep). Work is underway to interface to the SAOL structured audio language of MPEG-4.
