APT Method SSH is a SSH (more specifically SCP) method for the apt tool used to install packages in linux. Basically apt uses a URL type syntax to allow you to choose how you want to retreive your files. eg: deb unstable main contrib non-free Basically apt cleverly looks at the first bit (ftp:) and runs the command /usr/lib/apt/methods/ftp I have just added another, /usr/lib/apt/methods/ssh It is a very small (less than 100 line) perl script which provides the interface between apt and scp.
